'Ladies Day – a day of indulgence'
The third day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival is Crown Oaks Day, an occasion for the ladies to express their own signature style, amid a spectacular racing backdrop.
It is truly a time for ladies to connect and enjoy a day of indulgence. Whether it is just for fun, or for the lure of fame and prizes in Myer Fashions on the Field, Flemington becomes awash of colour on Crown Oaks Day. This is the time for cosmetic bloom, romantic looks and delicate fabrics.
The elegant atmosphere of Crown Oaks Day fittingly plays host to the national final of Myer Fashions on the Field Women’s Racewear competition, as ladies come together in their prettiest ensembles to participate in what is unmistakably Australia’s largest outdoor fashion event. Myer Fashions on the Field plays out over the first three racedays of the week and is as much a part of the Melbourne Cup Carnival as the horses.
The racing highlight of the day is the Group 1 Crown Oaks, a classic for three-year-old fillies over 2500m, with a $1 million and a stunning crystal winner’s trophy on offer.
Crown Oaks Day is a wonderful social occasion for friends to gather on this most stylish of days, and soak up the atmosphere in a glamorous environment, surrounded by manicured gardens, fine dining and beautiful marquees.
The official flower of Crown Oaks Day is the pink rose and can be purchased from flower sellers near the entrances, upon arrival to Flemington.
