Pin & Win
Pin & Win is the major annual fundraising activity conducted by the Victoria Racing Club and 2014 marks the 20th year of Pin & Win.
Since it began in 1995, Pin & Win has been the major charitable activity associated with the Melbourne Cup Carnival, with all proceeds benefiting a selected charity partner.
While the miniature Melbourne Cup pins first appeared in 1992, Pin & Win itself began in 1995, in support of the Australian Red Cross.
This year will mark the 20th year of Pin & Win and through the generosity of VRC members and all racegoers, the program has contributed well in excess of $3 million towards fantastic Australian causes such as Seeing Eye Dogs Australia, the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre, the Alfred Hospital and Challenge.
2014 Melbourne Cup Carnival charity partner
In 2014, Pin & Win proceeds will support SecondBite to provide food for people in need.
Last year SecondBite raised over $540,000 during the Melbourne Cup Carnival – which broke all previous Pin & Win records - and was enough to provide over 1.3 million healthy, nutritious meals for vulnerable Australians and their families.
Pin & Win lapel pins will be available to purchase as of Turnbull Stakes Day, presented by Yellowglen on 4 October 2014. They will also be available through volunteer pin sellers on each day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival, online and through the Flemington shop.
