Pin & Win

Background

2015 will be the 21st year of Pin & Win, the VRC's major annual fundraising activity.  The new charity partner for 2015 will be announced in the first quarter of the year.

Pin & Win began in 1995, in support of the Australian Red Cross, and since then has raised well in excess of $3.5 million for local charities through the sale of the Melbourne Cup souvenir pins.

Through Pin & Win, the VRC has partnered with 12 different charities over the last 20 years: SecondBite, Vision Australia, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Challenge Cancer Support Network, Australian Red Cross, Mission Australia, Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre, Alfred Hospital, Camp Quality, Kids Help Line, Kids in Crisis and Riding for the Disabled.

SecondBite Results 2013-14

The VRC partnered with national food rescue charity SecondBite for the Melbourne Cup Carnival in both 2013 and 2014.

In November 2014, SecondBite announced that it had raised more than $1 million over two years as the Pin & Win partner.

The $1 million raised through Pin & Win will allow SecondBite to provide enough food for 2.5 million healthy meals and this result marks the most successful two-year charity partnership in the history of Pin & Win.

In 2013 alone, SecondBite raised over $543,000 during the Melbourne Cup Carnival and this result stands as the current record fpor one year of Pin & Win.
