The AAMI Hobart Cup became a fashionista’s playground on Sunday 13 February 2011, when the raceday played host to the first leg of the Victoria Racing Club’s 2011 Myer Fashions on the Field National Competition.

An impressive line-up of over 100 contestants took to the Myer Fashion on the Field stage but it was Yasmin Maskiell, who shone through and took out the prize for the Women’s Racewear Competition. Maskiell who is the wife of leading Tasmanian jockey Stephen, won in a stunning ensemble which she designed herself.

Maskiell’s winning outfit was inspired by a lady-like glamour with a modern twist.  Her dress was black and white with a fitted capped sleeve bodice and bubble skirt in the famous Hitchcock bird print which she sourced herself.

"I was very happy with my dress. I found the material online in a Sydney store. It was just what I was after, unique and classic, something that stood out," Maskiell said.

To complete her look she accompanied the dress with a matching fabric covered pillbox hat trimmed with a waved disc and yellow flower, a yellow clutch, black leather gloves and black patent heels.

Having secured the Tasmanian title, Maskiell wins a nine-day trip of a lifetime for two, valued at more than $10 000, to the 2011 Melbourne Cup Carnival to compete in the National Final of Myer Fashions on the Field on Crown Oaks Day – The Ultimate Style Day.

Maskiell and a friend will enjoy the ultimate Melbourne Cup Carnival experience, with full VIP treatment including luxury accommodation at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins and raceday transfers. They will be entertained in the Myer Marquee in Flemington’s famous Birdcage enclosure on Emirates Melbourne Cup Day and Crown Oaks Day, and attend exclusive Victoria Racing Club events.

The next leg of the 2011 Myer Fashions on the Field National Competition will be held in South Australia on Adelaide Cup Day.  The fashion savvy can vie for the converted state title at Allan Scott Park, Morphettville Racecourse on Monday 14 March 2011. Registration takes place on the day at the Myer Fashions on the Field enclosure between 11.30am to 12:30pm.
