Mr Rod Fitzroy today announced that he will retire from the Victoria Racing Club Limited (VRC) Board effective from the conclusion of the Club’s Annual General Meeting on Friday 16 December 2011.

Mr Fitzroy joined the (then) Committee of the VRC in 1993 and was Chairman from June 2003 to June 2011.

“Rod has made an enormous contribution to the VRC on so many levels. He will be greatly missed but in a large way due to initiatives he has driven over time, will leave the Club well positioned to continue to be a global leader in thoroughbred racing,” said VRC Chairman Michael Burn.

The Board has determined, in accordance with its power under the VRC constitution, that it will make an appointment to fill the vacancy created by Mr Fitzroy’s retirement. An announcement in this regard will be made by no later than the Annual General Meeting.
