Myer Fashions on the Field run and won in WA… next stop Flemington!
19 October 2011
All eyes will now turn to Flemington after the last of the interstate finals of Myer Fashions of the Field was completed in Perth at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 15 October.
In an extremely high calibre field, Elicia Anders from Karrinyup took out the title and will now head to Melbourne to compete in the National Final on Crown Oaks Day on Thursday 3 November.
Anders took out the title in a self-designed cream pencil skirt with matching peplum jacket featuring fire-engine-red piping and a cream belt. A patterned cream and red camisole fashioned from a scarf completed the outfit. Anders topped the look with a self-made pillbox sinimay hat with intricate cream and red beading and a large disc feature trimmed highlighted with beading and additional fabric from the scarf. Fire-engine-red platform shoes and matching box handbag completed Anders’ winning ensemble.
Dayna Wandrey from St James was awarded first runner-up, in a self-designed cream blouse and a flowing knee-length silk skirt with a fine floral print. Her millinery was a ‘40s-inspired mustard pillbox hat with turquoise rose and thorns and an olive feather. Wandrey accessorised the outfit with a vintage wooden box clock with its time set for the start of the Emirates Melbourne Cup, along with turquoise wedges and cream gloves.
Second runner-up for the WA final was Kate Reynolds from West Leederville in a pear tux dress, which she wore with a burnt orange belt and matching peep tow heels. A woven orange box clutch and white gloves with pearl detail completed the look.
More than 80 entrants competed at Ascot in fifth and final interstate leg of the Myer Fashions on the Field National Competition.
As the WA winner, Anders can now look forward to a nine-day trip of a lifetime for two, valued at more than $10,000, to experience the entire 2011 Melbourne Cup Carnival and compete in the National Final of Myer Fashions on the Field on Crown Oaks Day – the Ultimate Style Day.
Anders and a guest will enjoy the full VIP treatment in Melbourne, including luxury accommodation at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins and raceday transfers.
The five state winners from Tasmania, SA, NSW, Queensland and WA will compete against the Victorian winner – decided over the first three days of the Melbourne Cup Carnival – in the National Final for the chance to win a Lexus IS 250C, a $5000 Myer Shopping Spree, a Longines Master Collection watch, Antler luggage and much more.
