Myer Fashions on the Field Design Award results
1 November 2011
Bright colour and striking silhouettes were the key themes at Myer Fashions on the Field on Emirates Melbourne Cup Day as some of the best established and emerging Australian designers competed in the prestigious Design Award.
Queensland designer Tia Carrigan wowed the judges with her abstract floral creation and was crowned the Design Award winner. The designer said the silk dress was inspired by the flowers of the Melbourne Cup Carnival – cornflower, yellow, pink and red rose. Model Aimee wore blue and black feathered Leanne Goodwin Millinery to compliment the outfit.
First runner up was awarded to Craig Braybrook who created a stunning white lace skirt and asymmetric top, accented by tangerine accessories and millinery.
Helen Manuell of Manuell and Moore was the final designer in the top three, awarded second runner up with a sculptural purple and navy design finished off with millinery in the same colour palette.
As winner of the Design Award, Tia will receive a Lexus RX 350 for 12 months, valued at $20,000, and will also enjoy a trip for two to Paris Flying Emirates Airline and a $2000 accommodation voucher. The extraordinary prize is topped off with a $4000 Myer Shopping Spree, Antler luggage and more
Myer Fashions on the Field continues on Crown Oaks Day this Thursday with the invitation-only Millinery Award, and the Women’s Racewear Victorian and National Finals.
