Fashion Fillies Flock to Gold Coast for Myer Fashions on the Field
7 October 2011
The quest to find the country’s most fashionable racegoer will continue this weekend when the Gold Coast Turf Club hosts the Queensland final of Myer Fashions on the Field on Saturday 8 October.
Australia’s largest and most prestigious outdoor fashion event, Myer Fashions on the Field is an institution of the Melbourne Cup Carnival, now in its eighth year as a National Competition.
The Queensland winner will be flown with a friend to Melbourne for a 9-day trip of a lifetime to attend the 2011 Melbourne Cup Carnival and compete in the National Final of Myer Fashions on the Field.
While in Melbourne the full VIP experience will include luxury accommodation at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, transfers, VIP hospitality in the Myer Fashions on the Field enclosure, and invitations to exclusive VRC events.
Hosted by Channel Seven’s Kimberley Busteed from Queensland Weekender, fashion savvy racegoers will compete before a panel of celebrated judges, including Jaydee Paino from Cairns who won the National Competition in 2010, former Queenslander and now Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador Chantelle Delaney, and Myer designer Wayne Cooper. Contestants will be judged on their racewear attire and will be hand-picked for their fashion flair to represent their state in the final of the National Competition on Crown Oaks Day at Flemington.
The Queensland winner will also receive a $1000 Myer Shopping Spree, with a $500 Myer Shopping Spree for the first runner up, and a $300 Myer Shopping Spree for the second runner up. They will also each receive a 4-course luncheon at the Gold Coast Turf Club’s exclusive Skyline Restaurant.
A racewear event which encourages Australian women to indulge their passion for fashion, the Myer Fashions on the Field National Competition culminates with the five interstate winners meeting the Victorian winner – determined over the first three days of the Melbourne Cup Carnival – in the National Final on the famous lawns of Flemington on Crown Oaks Day on Thursday 3 November.
This year’s competition again boasts a phenomenal prize pool valued at more than $400,000, with the Women’s Racewear winner set to receive a brand new Lexus IS 250C, a $5000 Myer Shopping Spree, a Master Collection Longines watch, TCL Entertainment Pack, Antler luggage and more.
To express your own sense of racing style, head to the Gold Coast Turf Club on Saturday 8 October and register between 11.30am and 1.00pm.
